Board Vice President
Board of Education Membership
The East Brunswick Board of Education is comprised of nine members, each serving a three-year term. At each November general election, the registered voters of the Township of East Brunswick elect those individuals who will serve on three of the nine board seats.
The Board of Education meets approximately twice monthly throughout the year; meeting schedules are adjusted as necessary to conduct official business. Board of Education meetings are generally held Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m. at the Jon R. Kopko Administration Building. All Board of Education meetings are held in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act and consist of a public session and, when warranted, an executive (closed) session. With the exception of nine legal purposes requiring discussion in executive session, all board business takes place during the public session.
Video Recorded Meetings
All Board of Education meetings, with the exception of executive session discussions, are video recorded for later broadcast. It is the policy of the Board of Education that video recorded meetings are not edited for any purpose. Individuals who speak at the Board's public meetings should be aware of these video-recording rules. Video-recorded meetings are broadcast on EBTV Comcast Channel 26 and are streaming “on demand” at http://www.ebtv.org/ and at EB BOARDcasts.
A public comment period is scheduled at each Board of Education meeting. The Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of providing an opportunity to the public to express themselves on school-related matters of concern to the residents of East Brunswick. To allow for a fair and orderly public comment period and in accordance with Board Bylaw No. 0167, individual comments are limited to five minutes. Members of the public are reminded that public meetings of the Board of Education are televised. The privacy of all students and employees must be protected; therefore, any concerns regarding individual students and staff members should generally be addressed by first meeting with the appropriate administrative staff.
Board of Education Committees are established pursuant to Bylaw No. 0155, Board Committees. A committee may be a standing committee or an ad-hoc committee. The currently established committees are as follows:
