    Welcome to Central Elementary School!

Central Elementary School is a preschool through fourth grade school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students. Our population is very diverse, with families from many countries and backgrounds. We pride ourselves in welcoming all students into our community of learners.

Every staff member is dedicated to creating an environment that enables students to learn and grow. Teachers work closely with one another to provide a content rich, technology infused curriculum that also stresses student collaboration and independence.   As you walk through the school, you will see students who are actively engaged in learning. Students are often spread around the room reading books, playing math games, constructing objects or observing live creatures. In many classrooms, you will see students participating in a lesson using Google Classroom, Chromebooks or iPads, which allow students to engage in learning through technology.

In addition to our academic curriculum, students also participate weekly in art, music and physical education. The students at Central Elementary School also have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities, including instrumental music and clubs related to music, art, and school government.

Character Education is an integral part of all we do here at Central Elementary School. This year, our theme is, Wild About Learning.  Students will learn essential conflict resolution skills and learn that every small action can lead to positive changes.  Throughout the year, there will be various lessons and special activities that help students see the benefits of caring about one another. As always, we will focus on encouraging students to see the benefits of standing up for one another and working together to solve conflicts.

Though all of these wonderful things are happening in school each day, we recognize that students are most successful when parents are highly involved in their child’s education. To that end, we offer many opportunities for parents to get involved. You can communicate with your child’s teacher during Back to School Night and conferences and throughout the year via phone or email. Our PTA holds many special events throughout the year that are always a huge success. Many events happen during the day, including cultural arts assemblies, author visits and field day. They also work tirelessly all year to plan special events for the entire family, including International Night, Movie Night and much more. You are encouraged to be involved in your child’s education by staying in contact with the teachers, becoming a volunteer and joining the PTA.  At Central Elementary School, we embrace the challenge of preparing our students to be reflective thinkers and compassionate citizens. Through parent involvement, rigorous academic standards and a commitment to character education, the students of Central Elementary School are well on their way.
