Child Nutrition Home

The Child Nutrition Department is responsible for the nutritional well-being of our students, which includes the East Brunswick Board of Education’s participation in the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. We plan and prepare food that is not only nutritious but also appetizing and in compliance with all federal and state regulations and policies. Every school day, our dedicated staff serves approximately 4,000 meals.

East Brunswick Charge Meal Policy

In the event a student chooses to purchase a la carte snack items, he or she must have a positive fund balance on their meal account or pay with cash.

In order for a breakfast or lunch to qualify as a reimbursable meal, your child must take a fruit, 100% 4 oz fruit juice or a vegetable. 
 

Meal Account Balance Information

Student Meal Account Balances are managed in accordance with Board of Education Regulation 8500, Part F, which requires that all meal account balances remaining at fiscal year end be carried over for use during the next school year.

The parent/guardian of any student who permanently leaves the district may request in writing that 1) the student’s account be closed and any remaining funds be refunded, or 2) the funds be transferred to another sibling’s account. All requests must include the student’s identification number and be received by the Child Nutrition Department no later than June 30 of the year in which the student leaves the district in order to be honored.

Written requests may be forwarded to “East Brunswick Public Schools, Child Nutrition Department, POS Refund, 760 Route 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816” or via email to childnutrition@ebnet.org.

Funds will be disbursed in accordance with the district’s bill list schedule.
