There will be a solar eclipse viewable in our area on April 8th. The eclipse will start at approximately 2:10, reach maximum coverage around 3:24 and end at 4:35.
The EBEF generously supplied solar glasses for all students, so they will be able to safely view the eclipse. Please see the link below from the National Science Teaching Association for more information on the eclipse.

Vision
By the end of 12th grade, all students will have an appreciation of the beauty and wonder of science; possess sufficient knowledge of science and engineering to engage in public discussions on related issues; are careful consumers of scientific and technological information related to their everyday lives; are able to and yearn to continue learning about science outside school; and have the skills to enter careers of their choice, including (but not limited to) careers in science, engineering, and technology. In summary, science will be presented to be accessible to all students in an enjoyable, engaging manner that fosters a love for science.
Mission
Providing a phenomena-based science education to foster an appreciation for science and ignite natural curiosity. Students will engage SEPS through explaining phenomena. Instruction across all classes and curriculum units will be conducted in a phenomena-based learning model, encouraging inquiry, language integration and authentic use of science, literacy, and mathematical thinking to answer questions, explain phenomena and solve problems. This high level of science education will be provided for all students with high expectations for all.
Science courses are designed to help students attain a deep understanding of how the natural world works. The curriculum helps students develop skills in problem solving, gathering and interpreting data, creating a logical sequence of information from a collection of evidence and developing ideas independently.
Students will engage in a Life Science unit, Earth and Space Science unit, and a Physical Science unit during each year of their K-8 education. The curriculum is designed to present the content in an engaging "phenomena-based" format, where students are presented with intriguing natural phenomena and engage in investigations to make sense of them. This method develops not only science content, but science practices as well. Additionally, the curriculum compliments elementary students' natural curiosity to grow their passion for science. Students are guaranteed to have memorable experiences such as working with live organisms, star shows in the mobile planetarium, and launching rockets that they built themselves.
East Brunswick Junior High School students explore science to a greater degree of abstractness. In seventh and eighth grade, they are expected to use inquiry and reasoning skills to investigate chemistry, geology, plate tectonics, meteorology, magnetism, genetics, and astronomy. Students in ninth grade study biology, where they engage in the production and analysis of data.
At East Brunswick High School, the curriculum includes courses in chemistry and physics taught at multiple levels. Additional electives include contemporary issues in science, environmental studies, astronomy, meteorology, marine biology, and anatomy and physiology. Advanced placement courses in biology, chemistry, environmental science and physics also are available.
