HOMEWORK POLICY
Room 2427 Mr. Elkins
Why I assign homework:
I believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. I give homework to reinforce what has been taught in class, prepare students for upcoming lessons, and help students develop self-discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills.
When homework will be assigned:
Homework is assigned every night. It will be checked the next day.
Tests:
Students will know several days in advance of the test date. Quizzes, however, will be given periodically and may or may not be announced. I often give quizzes on material from the homework, so making corrections is important.
Student’s homework responsibilities:
All homework is to be completed and brought to class the next day. All work is to be completed in pencil. All work must be shown. No credit is given for answers only. Work must be legible.
If a student chooses not to do homework, then the following consequences may occur:
-Parent will be asked to sign homework.
-Student will stay in at Lunch to work on the assignment.
-Student will stay after school to work on the assignment.
-Student will lose credit toward the homework grade.
Parent’s homework responsibility:
Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. I ask that you make homework a top priority, provide necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment, provide praise and support, and contact me if you notice a problem. If there is a legitimate reason an assignment could not be completed, please send a note with the reason on the day the homework was due. This note must be signed by a parent.
Teacher’s homework responsibility:
I will see that the homework is checked each day and keep a record of all assignments completed. I will give praise and other rewards for students who complete homework on a regular basis and provide help and support for those who need it.
