Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Michael Keenan and I am thrilled to be teaching Italian at EBHS and Churchill this year! My family is of Italian origin, but I learned most of my Italian like my students, at school. While studying Italian at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, I was also able to live, study and work in Rome. In Rome, I studied at John Cabot University in the beautiful Trastevere section of Rome. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work at the Italian Chamber of Deputies, which is essentially the Italian version of the House of Representatives.
I am extremely grateful to have been able to return to Italy a number of times since then and I am constantly looking for ways to increase the appreciation of the Italian language and culture. I throughly enjoy being able to share my knowledge and experiences of Italian language and culture with the students of East Brunswick.
Outside of school, I can often be found at various sporting events. I am a season ticket holder with the New York Red Bulls and I can often be found at New Jersey Devils games throughout the season. As an Italian teacher, I am naturally a big fan of Italian soccer (il calcio) as well. My favorite team is A.S. Roma, and I am always supprting Gli Azzurri (The Italian National Team) at international events. I also play tennis and I bowl in a league every winter.
Aside from sports, I love to travel anywhere and everywhere. I have been fortunate to travel to many different places in Europe, North America and the Caribbean. Closer to home, I like to find different parks to hike or bike through, and for some down time, nothing is better than sitting in a big chair with a good book.
I look forward to meeting everybody this school year. If you have any questions in advance or at any time during the school year, please don't hesitate to contact me by e-mail at email@example.com. As I travel between different schools, e-mail is the easiest way to contact me. If you would like to speak on the phone, please e-mail me so we can arrange a time.
