• Señora Kosa
Hola! My name is Amanda Kosa and I'm excited to be teaching elementary Spanish. I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a double major in Spanish and Music Education and will return to pursue a Master's in the Arts of Teaching Spanish this fall. During my time at Rutgers, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Peru. This experience allowed me to practice my Spanish while exploring beautiful cities such as Lima, Arequipa and Cusco, home of the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu.

Although my family does not speak Spanish, I started taking classes when I was in 3rd grade and continued all the way through college. This gives me a unique teaching perspective because I know firsthand what it is like to learn a second language in a school setting. Towards the end of my college career, I also took a class in Portuguese that was taught in the same immersion style we will use with our students this year. I couldn't believe how quickly I was able to pick up the language! I hope to travel back to South America as well as the rest of the world. During my free time, I like to play with my cats, go skiing, visit the beach and read. My favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

I will be teaching at the following schools: Bowne-Munro, Chittick, Irwin, and Warnsdorfer.

    Señorita Lopez
¡Hola! My name is Karina Lopez and I am one of elementary Spanish teachers here in East Brunswick. As a teacher who has taught elementary Spanish before, I am very excited to immerse students in the Spanish language and culture. I am very pleased and fortunate to be back in our East Brunswick Public Schools because I myself grew up in EB and have gone through the whole school system here. It definitely brings back many memories and I am thrilled and lucky to be a part of such a great school community.

I am first generation Mexican-American and I graduated from Kean University with a B.A. in Spanish K-12. I grew up speaking the Spanish language first and it wasn't until I started elementary school at Irwin that I learned English, where I took ESL for 3 years. My family vacations have always been visiting places in Mexico such as Acapulco and Puebla, Oaxaca where my exposure to the language and culture brings me closest to my family's roots. I definitely want to make room to travel to other places and I'm hoping to go to Spain next summer. During my free time I like to visit new places, spend time with family and friends and exercise.

I will be teaching at the following schools: Central, Frost, Memorial, and Lawrence Brook
