Ms. Useche

I am Sra. Useche and I teach the AP Spanish Language and Culture course which is a rigorous course taught exclusively in Spanish that requires students to improve their proficiency across the three modes of communication, interpretive, interpersonal and presentational. The course focuses on the integration of authentic resources including online print, audio, and audiovisual resources, as well as traditional print resources that include literature, essays, and magazine and newspaper articles with the goal of providing a rich, diverse learning experience. Students communicate using rich, advanced vocabulary and linguistic structures as they build proficiency in all modes of communication toward the pre-advanced level.

In addition, I teach Spanish IV Honors. This class is designed to enable language learners to meet the Intermediate-Low level of proficiency as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the New Jersey World Language Student Learning Standards. It is designed to move students along the proficiency continuum from Novice-High to Intermediate-Low on a increased number of topics than those taught in Spanish III.

Evaluations will be in accordance to the ACTFL rubrics for proficiency assessment (all rubrics are located in Google Classroom). Students will demonstrate, through multiple forms of assessments, their ability to communicate in the target language within the novice to intermediate range in the interpretive, interpersonal and presentational modes of communication. This course sets the students on track for Spanish VH and then Spanish AP Language and Culture and then Spanish AP Literature.

The course also reinforces learning of other content area standards and contributes to the development of proficiency in language arts literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, visual and performing arts and 21st century life and careers.
