This course is designed to introduce students to the Spanish language and culture. World Cultures emphasizes very simple vocabulary applied in real-life scenarios so that students can speak and understand the language at the most basic level within predictable areas of need. Spanish culture is introduced to students through functional life-skills instruction, as the students will be performing daily tasks and learning corresponding Spanish vocabulary.

This course is activity-centered with emphasis on speaking and listening. Spanish is in constant use in the classroom. The focus is on building of a working vocabulary, including common idioms and phrases. Students learn words and very basic and relevant grammatical structures. Teachers also introduce elementary principles of reading and writing. East Brunswick Public Schools' German Program earned the AATG CENTER OF EXCELLENCE certification.
In 2017-2018, the American Association of Teachers of German recognized East Brunswick Public School's German Program at HMS, CJHS and EBHS as a German Center of Excellence. Our program is the only German program in the state of NJ to receive this certification. -
