Dear Warnsdorfer Families,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your child's basic skills teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Rachel Solomon and I am a reading specialist at Warnsdorfer.  The basic skills program is designed to give students (grades K-5) an extra boost in reading instruction. My primary role is to provide targeted instruction and supplemenatry interventions in small group and individual settings. My goal is to help your child love to read by giving them the tools they need to read with ease. Throughout the year we will work towards acquiring the necessary skills needed for reading. This includes focused instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I will identify your child's area of need using ongoing assessments. I will continue to adjust your child's reading goals throughout the year to ensure they are progressing. Finally, I will strive to provide engaging lessons with multisensory activities in order to keep your child motivated and interested.
