Unit 1: Soils, Rocks, and Landforms

In this unit, the students are taught about the various types of soils and their make ups. They identify how soils from different locations look and feel different based on the landforms in a particular area. They become scientists that test variables in experiements to see how landforms and environmental impacts can change the landscape of the world. This unit will last until approximately mid-November. There are no more tests in science. Your child's grade will be determined by formative assessments throughout the unit, as well as observations.

    Magnets

    Unit 2: Magnets & Electricity

In this unit, the students will be able to describe how magnets attract and repel each other and certain kinds of other materials, like steel. We will also learn that electricity in circuits can produce light, heat, sound, and magnetic effects. Electric circuits require a complete loop through which an electric current can pass, which will be taught by building circuits of our own!
