About The Nurse

NAME: Mrs. Ladman

SCHOOL: Irwin Elementary School

Nurse's Office: 732-613-6837

FAX number: 732-257-7021

This will be my 25th year at Irwin! I have been the school nurse here at Irwin since January of 1993. I
have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing that I received in May of 1978. Upon
my graduation, I began working in various hospitals and specialized in
Intensive Care for adults. My most recent hospital experience included
rotations in the Coronary Care Unit, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the
Medical Intensive Care Unit, and the Telemetry Step-Down unit at RWJUH.

After having my own children, I discovered School Nursing. I went back to
graduate school and received my New Jersey School Nurse Certification and
began my "new" nursing career first in a private elementary school and then
on to Irwin!

Goals of the School Health Services Program

My goal as the School Nurse has always been to promote wellness in
children. Each year all Irwin students receive the following screenings:
vision and hearing, heights and weights, and blood pressures. Scoliosis
screening begins in grade 5. Referrals are made when indicated.

I also enjoy teaching health at Irwin. After the new year, I always teach
our fourth and fifth graders the district's family life lessons. The fifth graders also
love our Heimlich Maneuver Certification classes. I also
try to get into all of our other grades for health related lessons,
especially family life and classes about germ prevention and hand washing.

I would like all of our parents to know that my office is always open for
questions, or to share any pertinent health information or any problems,
either physical or emotional, that could impact your child at school.
Please feel free to call me at any time.
