    WELCOME TO THE MEMORIAL SCHOOL PTA!

    Thank you for becoming a PTA member for the 2018-2019 school year! The Friday Folder is a weekly newsletter to keep you informed about upcoming PTA activities and events.   We are looking forward to a great year!

    This year, all PTA memberships are being processed by NJPTA through their new MemberHub website.  Email receipts and links for NJPTA membership cards were sent through MemberHub.

    FUNDRAISING
    RED ROBIN DINE TO DONATE - TUESDAY, MARCH 19th

    No need to cook dinner on March 19th!  Instead, head over to Red Robin at Brunswick Square Mall for a delicious meal!  You must present the flyer to your server.  Memorial PTA will receive 20% of the proceeds.  Click here to download a flyer.
     
    APEX FUN RUN

    Coming Soon!!!  This is an exciting two week program which will take place from April 1st - April 12th.  There will be a character building and leadership program that will culminate with a student "run" to raise donations for the Memorial School PTA!   Look for more information coming very soon!
     
     

    SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

    The PTA will be hosting the spring Scholastic Book Fair from April 8th - April 12th. More information will be sent home soon. This is a fun opportunity for kids to shop for books during school. We will also need PTA volunteers to help during the sale. Look for a sign up genius email coming soon.

     

    INTERNATIONAL NIGHT PLANNING MEETING - Monday 3/25 at 7:30PM

    Come to the first International Night Planning meeting on Monday, March 25th at 7:30PM in the Media Center!   Learn about this event and help to start planning the activities for the night.  (Please note that date for International Night has been changed to Friday, May 3rd).

    The PTA's 5th Grade Committee is seling gift cards for Maria's Pizza in Milltown.  Maria's Pizza will be donating $10 for every $25 Gift Card Purchased.  The class that sells the most gift cards will receive a pizza party from Maria's! Order some gift cards for your family! Give the gift of pizza for special occasions and holidays! Let’s try to get a big piece of the pie...and make this cheesy fundraiser really deliver!  Please send all orders to school by March 15th.

    Memorial PTA is now selling Spirit Sticks!  Spirit Sticks are small embroidered tags that hang on a keyring for students to display on their backpacks.  They are only $1 each.  We have Mystery Sticks and Grade Level sticks available for sale now!  (We will have more styles available in the future!)  Spirit Sticks are another great alternative to goody bags for class parties or birthday celebrations.  Please use the attached form to order spirit sticks.

    The PTA Nominating Committee is seeking members to fill Executive and Board positions for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

    Elections will be held for the following positions:

    Treasurer (1), Out of School Events (1-2) and In-School Events (2)

    Committee Chair and Co-chair positions will also be available for 2019-2020.

    Did you know that we have a school store that's run by the PTA? The school store is open Thursdays during your child's lunch period. Prices range from $0.25 to $5.00 . If you send your child to school with some extra change, he/she can have a fun shopping experience! You'll also be supporting the PTA!

    Is your child celebrating a birthday soon? The school store has gift certificates that we can distribute to your child's class. This is a great substitution for traditional goody bags.     Yearbooks will go on sale in early April.  Information will be sent home.  Please note that 5th Graders DO NOT need to purchase yearbooks.  Every 5th Grade student will receive a yearbook as a gift from the PTA

    KARATE SCHOOL FUNDRAISERS

    Two local Karate Schools have been kind enough to help support our PTA!   Karate is a great way to increase physical fitness, self- confidence, self-respect and discipline.

    Attention all kids ages 2-12.  Come run at the Healthy Kids Running Series

    East Brunswick Public Library Advocacy Group - East Brunswick Public Library is in danger of losing approximately $1 Million of funding if proposed budget cuts are approved.  These changes could have an impact on the students of East Brunswick schools. The East Brunswick Library Advocacy Group is looking for the community to support them by opposing the proposed budget cuts.  Community members who would like to help are encouraged to attend the EBPL meetings and town council meetings and write letters to the town council and to newspaper editors.  See attached files for more information.
