Memorial School PTA
    Virtual Friday Folder
    October 25, 2019

Thank you for becoming a PTA member for the 2019-2020 school year! The Friday Folder is a weekly newsletter to keep you informed about upcoming PTA activities and events.   We are looking forward to a great year!

Please encourage your Memorial friends to become PTA members too! Membership information can be viewed on our website at https://www.ebnet.org/Page/10191

    Thanks for your support!

We hope everyone had fun at the Trunk or Treat! We'd like to thank all of the families and teachers who decorated trunks and handed out candy! Also, thanks to our hard-working PTA parent volunteers and the wonderful students from East Brunswick Youth Council for all of their help! We couldn't do this event without them!

Our Fall Book Fair was a success! A special thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to help during the week and to everyone who purchased books!  Our teachers also created Wish Lists and parents were able to purchase Wish List books for their children's classrooms during our additional parent/teacher conference shopping hours. Thanks to everyone who shopped during conferences.  As a gift from the PTA, each teacher was given books to add to his/her classroom library . We also had a raffle on Friday where some lucky students won books and posters. Congratulations to all the winners!

If you missed the book fair this week, the online shop will be open until Tuesday 10/29. Orders will ship directly to your home. (Free shipping with a $25 book order).  Visit http://www.scholastic.com/bf/memorialelementaryschool39 to shop the online book fair.

Veterans Day will be celebrated in school with an assembly on November 12th. If someone you know or someone in your family is a veteran, he/she will be invited to take part in this special assembly (Save the Date!).

Room parents have been assigned.  Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered!

Please note that cupcakes sent to school for the Halloween parties must have a "No Peanut and No Tree Nut" label on the package. Please check labels on the front and back of packages carefully. Cupcakes must be completely peanut and tree nut free and not be produced in a facility that processes nuts.

Memorial PTA is forming a new Hospitality Committee.  The Hospitality Committee will be responsible for planning the Staff Holiday Luncheon in December and a breakfast, lunch and other activities for Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

We would love your help!  Please use the sign up below to join the committee and we will be in touch with you soon.

Did you know that we have a school store that's run by the PTA? The school store is open Thursdays during your child's lunch period. Prices range from $0.25 to $5.00 . If you send your child to school with some extra change, he/she can have a fun shopping experience! You'll also be supporting the PTA!

    Be a School Store Vounteer-

We need some parent volunteers to help at our School Store.  The School Store takes place from 11:00am - 1:15pm. Please only sign up for a slot if you are able to stay for the entire time period.  Your responsibilities will be to help set up the items in the School Store, assist children with their purchases and clean up when lunches are over.  Remember that volunteers must also be current PTA members.  If you need to complete your PTA membership, visit our website at https://www.ebnet.org/Page/10191

    School Store Gift Certificates-

Is your child celebrating a birthday soon? The school store has gift certificates that we can distribute to your child's class. This is a great substitution for traditional goody bags. To purchase gift certificates, you must request them in advance.

Please email memorialschoolstore@gmail.com to request gift certificates.

Attention 5th Grade Parents!  It is not too late to join the 5th Grade Committee to help plan the events and activities for the 5th Grade this year!  If interested, please email Angela at memorialeb.2020@gmail.com.
This year, 5th grade parents are invited to participate in an "Opt-Out" fundraiser to support this year's 5th grade end of year student gifts and activities.  Click here for more information and visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0B48A9A9229-5thgrade to sign up.
Contact Angela Paglia at memorialeb.2020@gmail.com if you have any questions.

For every TEN valid Box Tops you send in, your child will be entered into a prize drawing!

**Congratulations to our October 2019 Box Tops Winner - McKenna in Mrs. Clements 1st grade class!  She won a $10 gift certificate  for our Scholastic Book Fair.**

Keep scanning and sending in Box Tops for a chance to win our next prize of a Target Gift Card! Box Tops submitted by 12/16 will be entered into the drawing.

    Box Tops are going DIGITAL!

No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online. Your child will also receive credit for box tops submitted through the app by pressing the star when you scan a receipt and enter his/her name.

We also collect Box Tops that are clipped from packages.  Be sure to send in your Box Tops to school with your child's name and teacher's name. Box Tops can be sent in to school in a ziplock bag or on a collection sheet. Please make sure that the Box Tops are not ripped or expired.

Box Tops are each worth 10 cents. You can help raise money for the students of Memorial School!

Please visit the Box Tops 4 Education Website to download the app or a collection form and learn about the products that contain Box Tops.
