Plot: It’s about a girl who comes to America from Ireland. Her brother is sent back because of an eye disease. The mother, Margrete Rose and her sister all get to meet her uncle who they find out is not very nice. The mother goes back to Ireland and the girls have to survive on their own in New York City.

Why read? If you like books that are historical fiction this would be a great book for you to read. It also has some friendships that are broken, some death and some mystery.
