I Am America (And So Can You!) By: Stephen Colbert

Plot:
Stephen Colberts I am America (And So Can You) does not have any definable plot
as it is a satire on various topics. These topics include , religions, sports,
science and many more. Colbert takes on a satirical view as a hard-line
conservative, when in fact he is quite liberal; this paradoxical view point
reveals to the reader many truths and interesting phenomenon about our world.
Why read?
If you are looking for a serious book, then this is not the one for you.
However, like any serious book, I am America will make you think about the
topics presented and will most likely change your views on these issues. Some
interesting subjects include religion and higher education where Colbert creates
many revelations that show the humorous and often nonsensical side of society.
As an entertaining read, this novel presents many interesting issues of society
in a satirical and comedic way that will leave you laughing. Although I did not
find this novel as humorous as other people did this was mostly due to my slow
nature in recognizing satire and sarcasm. Thus, if you are easily able to
recognize and understand a sarcastic type of writing, I am America (And So Can
You) should appeal to you immensely.
Reviewers note: If you are a fan of the TV show the book is a must.

Plot: I Am
America (And So Can You) is not your typical book. It is a humorous book that
focuses on popular American subjects. Each chapter is devoted to a specific
topic; some of the chapters include: sports, higher education, animals, family,
the media, Hollywood, class war, race, immigrants, religion, science and much
more. This book is extremely diverse and will most likely have something for
everyone.
Why read?
This book is worth reading because it is something out of the ordinary.
If you are tired of reading the same type of classic, romance, or mystery book,
then this is the book for you. It is up to date in all of it's information and
does not have a certain story line. Unlike most books, their are many parts in I
Am America (And So Can You) that will make you laugh. It is very easy to relate
to this book because it talks about so many different things.

Plot:
Having no plot, this book is a colorful collection of Colbert's neo-conservative
views on issues facing America today. He rambles on about modern topics such as
science and homosexuals but offers insight on more contemporary issues, such as
higher education and families. It is a blend of hypothetical, satirical policies
that should be applied to American society under the cloak of Colbert's mocking
attitude towards conservatives while emulating conservatives.
Why read?
Simply put, this book is a 3-hour (depending on your reading speed)
episode of The Colbert Report. This book is definitely worth reading if you are
a fan of American politics, humor, sociology, Doritos and/or Stephen Colbert.
The humor and stupidity starts from the cover of the book and continues to the
last passage. It is definitely worth picking if you dont want to read a book
with a rigid plot structure because of its reference-like format. Its a light
read and definitely worth having a glance at over this summer.
Reviewers note: The scientific dictionary was hilarious. So are the half-philosophies over religion.

Plot: Do
you love the Colbert Report and cannot wait to hear more of the hilariously
radical views of 'conservative' pundit Stephen Colbert? I Am America (And So Can
You!) offers Colbert's ideas on everything from illegal immigrants to American
class structure. Beware, however, since some of his sections cross the line from
comical to offensive. Regardless, you will learn about some of the greatest
problems facing America today, along with historical anecdotes and jokes.
Why read?
Any liberal or democrat will love the sarcasm Colbert uses to describe
right-wing views. I Am America (And So Can You!) will influence you to become
more involved in your own community to solve the problems you have learned
about. Not only is it a great supplement to The Colbert Report, it offers some
great political facts that will keep you knowledgeable during the 2008
elections. Like Colbert says, it's a hilariously political way to occupy
yourself the other 23.5 hours of the day when The Colbert Report is not on
television.
