The curious incident of the dog in the night-time By: Mark Haddon

Plot: The book is told from the point of view of Christopher, a fifteen year old boy with autism. Throughout the novel, Christopher attempts to solve a mystery involving the death of his neighbor’s dog. However, he finds out more then he bargains for. His search for the truth leads him to reach an understanding with himself and reevaluate what is important in life.
Why read? Although this book is written in a simplistic and over-redundant manner, it is still interesting to follow Christopher’s thought and explanations. Although this seems boring, in reality it is not, because of the way that Haddon depicts Christopher’s logic.

Plot: The plot is centered around the death of a dog next door to an autistic, yet brilliant, young man. From his point of view, he tries to uncover the murder of the dog while experiencing new things in the world.

Why read? I thought it was very interesting to read something from the viewpoint of an autistic child. Looking at the world in a different way gave me a totally different perspective on the world and how our brains work.

Plot: That novel is about a boy with the autism. Autism allowed Christopher to be smart and know many trivial facts, but it caused him to have lots of trouble understanding humans and controlling his emotions. When someone would touch Christopher, he would hit that person. He even carried a Swiss army knife in case if anyone annoyed him too much. Also, if there would be a lot of people near him, he would drop on the floor and begin screaming. Besides screaming and hitting, Christopher had peculiar believes in colors. He believed that yellow caused bad events and red caused good events. In all, Christopher was an intricate child to take care of. Since having a child with autism is very stressing, his parents began to lose control of themselves, and trouble in Christophers family began.

Why read? This book allows you to understand what it is like to be autistic.
