A Clockwork Orange By: Anthony Burgess

Plot:The story follows the
violent life of a teenager named Alex and his friends. By day, they are
normal kids, but by night, they commit brutal acts of cruelty on anyone who
gets in their way and care little for anyone but themselves. When Alex is
betrayed by the rest of his gang, he falls into the hands of the government,
which tries to turn him into a harmless citizen through a painful, yet
effective technique. But is freedom too much of a cost?
Why read? This book is a must read because it
questions the meaning of human freedom and explores the blurred line of good
and evil. Throughout the book, the reader is left in terror and suspense as
Alex’s life becomes increasingly complicated and as the new technique is
revealed. The government simultaneously commits acts of justice and
injustice, and interpretation of right and wrong is left to the reader,
creating a strong desire to continue reading the book.

Plot:
A Clockwork Orange is a story about a young boy named, Alex. He is a
leader of a gang and every night they roam the streets and commit acts, like
robbery, rape, murder, etc. During one robbery, everything goes wrong, and
Alex is caught and sent to prison. There, he is given a choice: “Take this
new Ludovico therapy or stay in prison.” Obviously, he accepts, but
unknowingly to him, the therapy may be much more than he can handle.
Why read?
A Clockwork Orange will definitely appeal to those who like action,
suspense, and dystopias. The action in the beginning of the book keeps you
locked in and gives you a need to read more. Even though the book slows down
as the story, the book becomes more interesting. The absurdity of the novel
makes you wonder if it will get any crazier. In a weird way, the craziness
makes the book more fun.

crimes such as stealing and harassing. Eventually, the police catch him
because a so-called friend betrayed him. After 2 years in prison, he is
given an option of getting out of jail, but was uninformed of the
consequences. His decision to take on the choice would soon change his life.
Read this book to find out what happens!
Why read?
This book is an excellent book as well as an easy read. As you pick
up the book, you are automatically put into Alex's world of being a young
gang member. The plot is very suspenseful and is extremely unpredictable.
The book also has many words in other languages, which enhance the suspense
because it would require you to find the meanings through context clues. I
recommend this book for any reader.

Plot: This novel
depicts a dystopia in which teenagers run wild with a government that lacks
control and surrenders the night to the gangs of the nadsat or teenagers.
The story follows its main character Alex through the height of his crime
life, the low of a new government rehabilitation and his reunion with
reality as a free man.
Why read?
This book although violent and gruesome at times is over all a great
book. Once you pick up on the nadsat which is a mix of Russian, English and
made up words. Deciphering the text is as enjoyable as the gripping plot. If
you are a person who does not like violent sequences then this is not a book
you want to read. If you do not like to see the worst in humanity and the
lowest humans in the world this is also not a book for you. If you are a
realist and see where the world is going and enjoy a sarcastic comment on
society then this is the book for you. Despite the faults you may find this
is definitely a classic

Plot: The story revolves around a teenage boy,
Alex, who struggles through the post-war dystopian society in which he
lives. The story is divided into three phases of Alex’s journey. In the
first, Alex enjoys life by doing everything that our society forbids. He
beats men on the street for money, steals from stores, and rapes women. Once
he is caught by the police, he is taken to Staja 84, or State Jail, and part
three begins. Here he goes through a sickening treatment that is meant to
improve his life. Finally, in the last part, Alex is released from jail and
goes back to same society he had come from. Will Alex mend his ways? Or will
he return his previous state of being brutal and merciless?
Why read? The book is
written so well that I found it very hard to wait for the next day to read.
The book starts out very action-packed and violent-full. The book is a
little hard to read as the author uses language that may not be familiar to
us. However, the words are repeated and context clues can be used to
decipher the meanings. Overall, the book is very interesting and very
different from the regular stories. I would recommend this book to anyone
who loves thrilling and fast-paced readings.
