Who’s Who in History?

During this school year you will be encountering many individuals and their contributions to the historical time period that we are studying. This assignment will give you the opportunity to investigate one of the individuals at length. Please follow directions carefully for each of the sections below. You will have two class periods in the media center, please use them wisely. All phases of this assignment will be graded.

  1. Resume Writing. One section of this assignment is to discover the use and purpose of resumes. Use part of this media center period to locate on-line samples of resumes. You will create a resume for your assigned individual. I will discuss the objective with you individually. After you have reviewed a few (at least three) samples of resumes you will proceed to the next section.
  2. Historical Figure. You will be assigned one individual that we will study during this historical time period. Using your investigative powers, you are to delve into this person’s past and create a resume for them. The resume should focus on the individual’s contributions during the late 1800s and 1900s. This is to be typed and one side of a page only. On the back of this resume you are to provide a works consulted regarding the sources that you have used. I will explain this in class. Please use at least one technology source and one book. There should be a minimum of two sources.
  3. Power Point. After completing your investigation, you will create a power point of your individual. You should have a minimum of three slides. One of the slides is to be a picture of your individual. Please focus on the contributions regarding the other two slides. These slides are pictures only-no notes. Please save to the "Shared Drive" in the folder assigned to your class.
  4. Presentation. Your presentations will take place at various times through out the year. I will review in class the requirements of your presentation.
  5. Forum. Near the end of the school year we will have a forum of the historical individuals that you have researched. This will include dressing up as the person and portraying them.
