Summer Fun Programs (Completed Kindergarten - Grade 5)

Adult and Community Education programs provide a wide variety of educational opportunities for adults, including high school students. A nominal fee is charged for courses.

Registration Procedure and General Information

Brochures with detailed descriptions of the courses are mailed in mid-August for the fall semester and mid-January for the spring semester. Catalogs are also available on-line at this website. The types of courses and programs offered are:

  • Academic, such as conversational Spanish, and review for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Certain graduate courses are offered in cooperation with Kean University.
     

  • Vocational, including Keyboarding, Introduction to Windows, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
     

  • Hobbies, such as cooking, photography and ballroom, swing, Latin and country line dancing.
     

  • Exercise/Relaxation, including tennis, aerobics, yoga, boating, and golf.
     

  • The Life Skills program provides a full range of courses designed to promote independent living skills for adults who have a developmental disability. Vocational skill training, basic skills, self-advocacy, social interactions on the job and community integration are emphasized. There is a nominal fee for the program, which is supported by the East Brunswick Board of Education and the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities.
     

  • The Adult Basic Skills program, offers instruction in citizenship preparation, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, and high school completion (GED) preparation. The goal is to enable individuals to function effectively in the workplace, in the home and in the community. There is a $10 registration fee for the program, which is funded by state and federal grants through the New Jersey State Department of Labor and Workforce Development and provided as a community service. Students unable to pay the registration fee may apply for a waiver with the Community Programs Administrator.

Behind the Wheel Driver Education is offered to high school students who are East Brunswick residents. Download the form which outlines the documentation required by the Motor Vehicle Commission to process your Student Learner's Permit Application. Additional forms and the permit application (green card) can be obtained in the Community Programs office, Room A-1 at East Brunswick High School.

Inclement Weather Procedures: The adult school will be closed when East Brunswick Public Schools are closed or when there is an early closing due to inclement weather. Emergency closing announcements will be made after 3:00 pm on WCTC 1450 am/98.3 fm and on EBTV channel 3.
