Warnsdorfer Traffic Safety
In order to ensure that all students arrive in school safely, it is important that all members of the school community observe the traffic rules and patterns as detailed below. Please read these carefully and make every effort to inform anyone who may bring your child to school.
Early Morning Drop-off (7:30 - 8:30 am) If your child attends the Early Morning Program, or comes to school for a club or appointment with a teacher prior to 8:30 am, please follow the procedures as listed:
You may drive to the upper level parking lot and park your car in one of the marked parking spaces and walk your child into school.
Always turn right and follow the arrows painted on the ground to avoid a collision.
Do not stop and discharge your child along the curb with the yellow line.
Yellow lines always signify no parking.
All students should enter school through the multipurpose room doors prior to 8:30. There is no one available to admit visitors through the front door until 8:30 am.
Arrivals Between 8:30 and 9:10 am Buses and vans begin arriving at approximately 8:30, resulting in heavy traffic patterns. Students should not arrive prior to 9:00 unless requested by a teacher or for a club activity. The following procedures must be adhered to:
Cars are not permitted access to the upper parking lot after 8:30 am.
Following the arrows, proceed around the perimeter of the lower parking lot and discharge your child at the designated drop-off area -- in the corner of the parking lot nearest the crossing guard. The are is painted with yellow stripes and reads NO PARKING.
Students should cross with the crossing guard and proceed into school.
Following the arrows, please exit the parking lot as soon as you have discharged your child. Otherwise the traffic backs up behind you.
You may choose to park your car and walk your child into school. Be sure to only cross at the cross walks.
Do not walk between the buses. This sets a dangerous example for students.
At all times:
Upon entering the parking lot, follow the perimeter of the lot and proceed down the lanes according to the arrows. Do not cut across lanes and go against the arrows.
Never enter the parking lot in the bus lane. It is a one-way thoroughfare.
Only cross in the crosswalks. Do not jaywalk.
Never double park on Hardenburg Lane.
Never park at a curb that is painted yellow.
Always look carefully before you pull out. It is very difficult to see small children.
Always drive very slowly on school premises.
Treat crossing guard and staff on duty in the morning with respect. Their goal is to assure the safety of all of our students.
Additional Parking McGinnis School Lot -- The old McGinnis School parking lot is now available for school parking. Please escort your child from your car to the walkway that leads to the school. It is dangerous for students to walk through a parking lot unescorted by an adult. Likewise, when picking up students at the end of the day, please meet them on the walkway and escort them to your car.
