Dear Elementary Parent/Guardian, Beginning in August of 2005, to ensure the safety and security of your child, a formal procedure has been put into place for parents/guardians to make alternate transportation arrangements to enable your child to receive childcare before and/or after school. Requests for alternate transportation to and/or from school will be considered ONLY when:
Parents/guardians must file an Alternate Transportation Request Form by July 1st for the school year beginning the following September. Once approved, the parent/guardian will be notified and the alternate arrangement will go into effect five (5) school days following that approval.In order to ensure the safety of our students, modifications to approved requests will NOT be considered between August 25 and September 30. This is the time when routes are established and drivers are becoming accustomed to those routes. The East Brunswick Board of Education has adopted Rule No. 3541.1(b), which sets forth the regulations in greater detail. In addition, an Alternate Transportation Request Form has been developed to assist in this process. Both of these documents are attached for your convenience. It is important to note that requests for alternate transportation must be made each year, as well as when there is a change in the alternate location. Please also note that, if the alternate location is closed and the District schools are open, it will be the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide transportation for the student. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated. This process will help to ensure the safety and security of our students.
