EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A.   Vision

Students will successfully meet the requirements of living, learning and working in a changing, information-based world. Through the establishment of electronic communities, schools will effectively enhance the learning of curriculum content; involve students as real researchers; solving real problems; and stimulate knowledge production.

B.   Planning Process and Overview

The East Brunswick Public School's Technology Plan for 20072010 is a new three-year technology plan.  This plan is strongly based on the plan adopted by the district in 2004. The Technology Committee representing administrators, board members, teachers, parents, community, and business developed the current and preceding plans. The plan is based on a vision and implemented through an integrated plan that includes an Executive summary, Technology Assessment, Three-Year Goals and Objectives, Implementation Strategies, Funding Plan, Professional Development, and Evaluation Plan.

Since the inception of the first technology plan in 1993, East Brunswick has fulfilled many of the outlined objectives.  The school district is completely wired with a high speed Gigabit network. The private fiber WAN connects 12 physical buildings. In each of the 12 buildings, every classroom and office is connected with over 4,500 data drops. The infrastructure enables video, voice and data to each of those 4,500 connections.  There are approximately 2700 multimedia desktop units throughout the schools and administration building in 98 computer labs, 468 classrooms and over 100 offices.

All computer services such as network authentication, file and print services, application storage and distribution, Internet access, email and many other services for approximately 9200 students and approximately 1200 staff members are provided by 43 servers located in a server farm in the administration building.

A telephone system is located at the high school, which provides connectivity to every classroom, computer lab and office. This system also provides centralized administration of telephone services. Every staff member has a voicemail account for increased communications.

These achievements show East Brunswick’s commitment to technology and have the district poised to continue to meet its technology goals. The goals identified throughout this plan continue to be East Brunswick’s priorities.
