The students who attend our public schools are our doctors, nurses and environmentalists, our retailers, trades and crafts people…they are our economists, statesmen and business owners, our educators, artists and athletes…of tomorrow. For our future and the future of those who follow, it is our responsibility to see that our students have the education and the tools necessary to succeed. In East Brunswick we take this responsibility very seriously as is evidenced by the excellent reputation of our school district and the many accomplishments of our students. We can all be proud of our students and their accomplishments. These students and those before them have had the benefit of an excellent education, one that was dedicated to educating the whole child. As I attend meetings and programs throughout the district, it is so very rewarding to meet and speak to so many people who graduated from East Brunswick High School. Though many of these people may have left town for college and stayed away for several years, when they were ready to settle down and possibly raise their families they came back. We are pleased that they valued their East Brunswick education and have returned to be members of our community. In East Brunswick and throughout the state, school districts are appealing to their communities to support their schools. Until the state legislature solves the school funding problems this situation will continue. It is unfair to our students that school elections are the only opportunity for voters to express their dismay and vent their frustrations with rising taxes. Whether or not we are successful at the polls, taxes will still go up. Our current students and those that follow deserve the same quality of education as those that came before them. For our students, for their future and ours, I encourage you to vote on April 17th. The polls will be open from 2PM to 9PM. Yours truly, Jo Ann Magistro, Ed.D. |
