Standardized Testing and Assessment Program

The district’s testing program includes two types of standardized testing:
  • Norm Referenced Tests
  • Criterion Reference Tests

Norm Referenced Tests
  • Compare individuals and group scores with a national average
  • National percentile scores
  • Terra Nova achievement test in grade 2
  • InView aptitude test administered in grades 2 and 5

Criterion Reference Tests
  • Assess students in terms of a set curriculum achievement score
  • Partially proficient, proficient, or advanced proficient
  • State and NCLB mandated that criterion reference tests are administered in grades 3,4,5,6, and 7 (NJASK), 8 (GEPA), and 11 (HSPA)
  • In addition some students in grades 9 and 10 are tested to determine if supplementary instruction may be needed (NJ PASS)

District Testing Schedule
  • 2nd grade - Terra Nova & InView (3/13,14,15)
  • 3rd/4th grade - NJ ASK (3/19, 20, 21)
  • 5th grade - NJASK & InView (3/13, 14, 15, 16)
  • 6th/7th grade - NJASK (3/13, 14, 15)
  • 8th grade - GEPA (3/12, 13, 14, 15)
  • 9th/10th grade – NJ PASS (3/5, 6, 7, 8)
  • 11th grade - HSPA (3/5, 6, 7, 8)

  • Year over year our students excel
  • Test are based on NJCCCS and our curricula are aligned to meet these standards
  • Students are using Study Island
