Registration Information Adult Basic Skills is offered under the auspices of the Middlesex County Adult Education Consortium. Programs available include: evening High School Completion (GED) Prep, daytime and evening English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as daytime and evening Citizenship classes. The Adult Basic Skills Program is funded by State and Federal grants through the State of New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and is provided a s a community service by the East Brunswick Board of Education.

Registration Information:

  • Bring your Social Security Number to registration

  • Minimum age to participate is 16

  • Parent/guardian consent to participate is required under age 18

  • Principal/superintendent secondary education program certification of non-enrollment is required if you are under age 22

  • Evening classes meet Monday and Wednesday at East Brunswick High School from 6:45 to 9:45 pm

High School Completion (GED) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) Increase your skills and develop a reliable study program that will prepare you to take the General Educational Development test and earn a State of New Jersey High School Diploma. Learn where the test is given. Instruction is offered in the GED Test content areas of Language Arts/Writing, Science, Social Studies, Reading and Mathematics. Classroom, small group and individual instruction are reinforced with homework assignments. Official GED Practice Tests are administered to improve test-taking skills. Counseling services and vocational testing are available. Students will be assigned to classes based on interview and test results. Call (732) 613-6982 to schedule a registration appointment and to schedule classes. There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee. Students unable to pay the fee should see the Administrator for a waiver. Grant Funded Program.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Adults with limited or no command of the English language will learn and/or improve their English language communication skills. Instruction is offered in pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing, American culture, community living skills and work force readiness skills. Students will be assigned to classes based on interview and test results. Call (732) 613-6982 to be placed on our ESL waiting list. There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee. Students unable to pay the fee should see the Administrator for a waiver. Grant Funded Program.

ESL with a Citizenship Focus While improving their English language skills, foreign-born adults who seek United States citizenship will prepare for naturalization. Instruction is offered in American history, civics and American culture. Classroom activities will include practice for the oral exam, writing requirements and INS interview. Information will be provided about the citizenship process and government forms. Students are selected for this program based on interview and test results. Call (732) 613-6982 for registration information. There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee. Students unable to pay the fee should see the Administrator for a waiver. Grant Funded Program.
