| The
general election will be held November 6, 2007 To be eligible to vote, residents
must be at least 18 years old, citizens of the United States, must have been living in the
state and the county for 30 days and must have registered at least
21 days before the
election. Anyone
registered to vote in general elections also may vote in school elections. Register to Vote before October 16, 2007 (21 days before general election) If you have never voted before or if you have moved or changed your name since the last election, now is the time to register to vote or update your voter registration. In order to register you must be: a US citizen, at least 18 years old by the next elections, and a resident of Middlesex County for at least 30 days before the election. New voters may register at the Municipal Building on Ryders Lane or may complete a voter registration form and mail it to the address provided on the form. (Please allow sufficient time for mailing as your original signature must appear on the form. Faxed copies will not be accepted. You may also download a voter registration form at: www.govote.org or the State of New Jersey Election site. Before
October 30, 2007 you may
request
an absentee ballot. November 5, 2007 deadline for casting civilian absentee ballot in person November 6, 2007 General Election Day, polls are open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm The next annual school election will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Voters choose members of the Board of Education and cast ballots for the amount of money that must be raised through local taxation to support the proposed school budget for the coming year. If you are a registered voter and will be unable to go to the polls, you may request an absentee ballot. Now you do not need to state a reason. The request for absentee ballot form may be downloaded online at: State of New Jersey Division of Elections. The completed form with your original signature must be received in the County Clerk's office, Hon. Elaine M. Flynn, Middlesex County Clerk, P.O. Box 1110, New Brunswick, NJ 08903 at least seven days prior to the election. Please allow sufficient time for your request to be received by mail. (This is a terrific opportunity to model civic responsibility by encouraging your college student to vote by absentee ballot!)
